Suggestion - Sort 'forthcoming' after numerical dates

Just a suggestion for something that would be useful to me at least and probably others. Would it be possible to make it so that in bibliographies sorted by author-date, references with 'dates' of 'forthcoming', 'in press' and the like sort after the numerical ones? What I get at present is:
Smith (forthcoming)...
Smith (1980)...
Smith (2008)...
but what I would prefer (and suppose others would too) is:
Smith (1980)...
Smith (2008)...
Smith (forthcoming)...

The sorts are alphanumeric, so numbers sort before letters. Off the bat I don't see a simple way to alter the sort order arbitrarily. One could enter a character that sorts before 1 (like a 0) in the Date field and I think that would sort at the end, but you'd have to remove the 0 after the scan, which is awkward.

Shouldn’t F then come after 1998 or 2000?
(I would also like to see the default order such as nicka proposed – not sure what happens with Roman numbering schemes, but I think they are rare to non-existent…)

It depends on what is actually in the date field. If it is "March 2008", then "forthcoming" would sort before it.
