Hi
I want to share my bookends file with endnote users. Is there anyway i can 'export' my bookends database which is importable in endnote?

Yes. Mark the references you want to export (make the hits) and use File -> Export References (Hits). Choose EndNote XML from the pop-up menu in the export dialog. EN can import the references in that file.

Hi
I am now trying to export a sample of references with attached PDFs to an endnote library. I use the endnotes XML plus attachments and save this to a folder. The folder then contains a file named *.bdb.xml and the related attachments. When i attempt to import this into Endnote X5 all of the references appear but none of the attachments. In looking through the xml file i note there is no reference to attachments/pdfs. Am I doing something wrong?

Bookends doesn't output the name of the pdf because EndNote wouldn't understand it (EndNote pathnames are hardcoded and they are stored in a fixed location determined in EndNote). You'll have to reattach them in EndNote.

Thanks Jon
I also need to export something to Citavi (which is the standard here in Gemany), so would it be possible to have a script to insert the attachment path in the xml export? I do not know what this would mean, so if it is an impolite request please dismiss it as my ignorance.

After all this, I'm embarrassed to say that the lack of the link to the attachment in the .xml file is a bug (and a really dumb one). I've fixed it, and have made a silent update this evening for you (Jan 9, 2012). Sorry for the problem.
