Newbie: moving references between libraries

How does one move references from one library to another? It seemed to copy but not paste. Also not able to drag and drop. I tried the sync version. Confusing. I made a back up so I could play with syncing and I can't seem to open the back up to get information out of it. All libraries are on my computer, so then how do I define local and remote? Where is all this in the user manual?

You can do this two ways:

1. Export/Import. Mark the refs you want to transfer, then use File -> Export References (Hits) to send them to a "Bookends" file. Import that into the destination database.

2. Drag and drop references from one library window to the other.
