Hello,
I'm using Bookends 11.2.1 on OS 10.6.8. I experience problems that sometimes "Mark" flags get lost. The last time I quit Bookends I had 45 marks, when I open it up again now I have only 29.
Does anybody else have the same problem?

Bookends loses "Mark" flags?
Re: Bookends loses "Mark" flags?
I haven't seen this before, but you might try Rebuilding or Repairing your library. If you can reproduce the problem after that, you should contact tech support.

Thank you for the quick response. I tried to repair, let's hope it does not happen again. I had the same problem about 3 weeks ago.

Re: Bookends loses "Mark" flags?
Here the response:
Hi,
No bug I know of. I'm guessing that you aren't using the mark function appropriately. Marking a reference makes it a 'hit'. The list of hits (hits list) is used by Bookends for all sorts of things, from making the order for the bibliography to exporting references.
The hits list is evanescent -- that means it can change all the time, depending on what you do. For example, every time you do a Find (Command-F) the hits list is updated (and the marks change).
So, you should NOT be using the hits list (marks) to keep track of groups of references. That's what groups are for.
If you want to preserve a set of marked references as a group, select them and drag them to the groups pane. Bookends will offer to create a new group for these, and populate it with the hits list. Say yes, give it a name, and now you have a permanent group with those references. You can add or remove refs at any time to that group. Even delete the group when you no longer need it.

I think that's it! Thank you!
