Some pdfs make BE crash when opening autocomplete field

Post by Sebastian Hesse »

Hi,

I just updated BE and had to rescan all my pdfs with the autocomplete form (because had not done this before).

Now I have the problem that about 1/3 of all my pdfs bring BE to crash as soon as the autocomplete mask is opening the pdf preview.
I tried to rebuild, repair and reindex the library - no results.
I copied the pdf to my desktop, deleted it in BE and than reimported it - same crash when the autocomplete window is opening.

Any of the pdfs I can view with adobe and even in BE I can double click on the pdf preview (works without problem in the main window!) and open the file externally with adobe.

The problem really seems to be with the preview of the autocomplete window.

Any suggestions how I can solve this?

thank you all!

Ok - I tried something else:

I opened up a new library and tried to import the paper - same crash!

I am now collecting all the troublemaker paper into one folder and hope for a solution :(

This is not connected with the paper having adobe created highlighter marks on them - there are also some without any markers that make BE crashing and other pdfs with markers get handled just fine.

it would be great to find a solution for this - thank you all for helping!

For those following, the problem was that the Sebastian had installed the Adobe pdf plugin, which is incompatible with Bookends. Once that was disabled the problem was resolved. If anyone reading this has a similar problem, please see our FAQ for a discussion of this issue and the solution.
