Is there a way for Bookends to export a reference with editor(s) if no single author exists (e.g. a dictionary, a compilation, lexicon...)?

Hi, yes. There are several ways to do this, but the best is probably to create conditional groups (see the User Guide, in the Help menu, for details). Basically, you'd put this in the format

{a^e}

It means, output the author(s). If there are no authors, output the editor. If there are neither, output nothing.

Of course, you could create a specific Type for the reference (e.g. Lexicon), and knowing there are no authors, just output
