Silly question from a newb..

I just started looking at Bookends as a way to organize all my references. My problem is that up to now I have simply kept them as typed up references in a series of (now) very big Word files. I'm wondering if there is a way to quickly and easily get those typed up references into Bookends without having to copy and paste every one into a new "card" in Bookends? I have thousands of these references, but every one is just typed up like you would see it at the end of a publication. I have never before used a citation organizing program like Endnote, etc., and I'm trying to gauge how much work I'm going to have to invest if I want to make the switch now. It sure seems convenient and powerful, but I've been using my system just fine for nearly 20 years and if I have to cut and paste 100+ pages of references into a new database, maybe I'm just going to have to keep my antiquated system...
