Updating without erasing settings?

It seems that everytime I update Bookends (download dmg, copy to Applications) I lose some of my settings (particularly, "Edit References" setting). Am I updating wrong? Or is there a way to preserve those settings?

Updating should have no effect on any preference settings. What do you mean by "Edit References" settings?

I prefer to edit references in "In: Reference Window." The last few times I've updated Bookends, that setting appears to have defaulted back to "In: Library Window." It's certainly possible something else is happening, but it appears to coincide with an update of the software.

Hm, it shouldn't. Preference settings aren't touched with updates. If you can reproduce a situation in which the prefs change when doing an update. please contact tech support directly with the steps we need to take to see the problem. If we can reproduce it we can fix it.
