can't launch Bookends 8

Does anyone know what this means when attempting to launch Bookends 8?

Hi ricki,
Sounds like either BookendsCarbonLib is not in the same folder as Bookends or its permissions have been changed. If neither of these is the cause, please contact me directly and we'll work through it.

Launching problems

A quick update on this problem, which Jon solved for me offlist:
Jon suggested it was a preferences problem. Because using Disk Utility to repair preferences didn't work, I deleted the Bookends 8 folder and some old Bookends 7 files that were hanging around, and then created a new user. Using the new user to download and install the software solved the problem.

A slight correction: not a preferences problem, but a permissions problem.
