Problems with formatted citations in Mellel

Hi,
I'm having a couple of issues with trying to format my citations appropriately. I'm using Mellel v3.1.0b18 and Bookends 11.2.1 with Live Bibliography turned on, on a MacBook Pro with OS 10.8.2. Apologies if this should be on the Mellel forums or a bug report, but I think at least one of the problems is due to my settings rather than an error.
I'm using a custom citation format, and I have "Use year-only for repeated authors" checked, and "Order Grouped Citations" is set to "Sort by Author". I have a citation in my paper at the moment that I've copied and pasted here:
{Gheorghiu & Kingdom, 2006; Gheorghiu & Kingdom, 2007; Kingdom, Beauce, & Hunter, 2004; Kingdom & Kasrai, 2006; Liebe, Fischer, Logothetis, & Rainer, 2009; Nagai & Uchikawa, 2009; Shimono, Shiori, & Yaguchi, 2009}
There are two issues here. First, shouldn't it be "Gheorghiu & Kingdom, 2006, 2007"? I can't see why this isn't working - the author's names are completely identical in Bookends.
Second, this text that I've just copied over is not the same as the text that appears in Mellel. In the formatted citation, the Kingdom & Kasrai citation appears before the Kingdom, Beauce, & Hunter citation, so it looks like this:
(Gheorghiu & Kingdom, 2006; Gheorghiu & Kingdom, 2007; Kingdom & Kasrai, 2006; Kingdom, Beauce, & Hunter, 2004; Liebe, Fischer, Logothetis, & Rainer, 2009; Nagai & Uchikawa, 2009; Shimono, Shiori, & Yaguchi, 2009)
I have not altered anything in the citation - this was just a matter of selecting the seven references in Bookends, right-clicking and selecting "Copy Citations". The citation just appears this way automatically.
Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong?
Cheers!
