Enabling an Import Filter for the Internet Search Utility.

Post by rla »

I'm sure this is something obvious that I'm missing, but how do you enable an import filter for the Internet Search utility? I want to add a couple of Universities to my list and the filters exist, but I can't figure out how to enable to save my life.

Hi,

Open the Import Filter Manager (File menu), scroll to the filter you want to enable and check it...

You are not alone - there is something oddly obvious about it that makes it easy to miss.

I would like to suggest a possibly easy fix for this this might clear up any future confusion. (Leave the current link under the File Menu as it works for many of the users without problem). When you click on Utilities - Internet Search and the search window opens there is the "search" drop down box in the upper left hand corner. Add a simple horizontal line at the top or the bottom of the list with the option to the "Internet Filter Manager" (though "Search Manager" might fit the window better).

This allows you to add a simple, and very useful, button to Bookends without adding any clutter and gives users quick access to this feature.

One note on using "internet search filter" on version 9.0.4 If I modify the Internet Search Filter I then need to close the search window and re0-open it to use the new filter list. Actually as I type this that makes sense from a programming angle so it is likely that way the application is supposed to function.

Best,

R. Joe
