Vanishing periods in Serial titles

I am currently in the process of tweaking the citation format as I need it and encountered the following strange problem.
Books without serial title should look as follows:
T. Saile, Slawen in Niedersachsen (Neumünster 2007).
While those with serial title (the serial title is already abbreviated in the database) should look the following way:
T. Saile, Slawen in Niedersachsen. Göttinger Schr. Vor- u. Frühgesch. 30 (Neumünster 2007).
However, the following code:
a, t |~. ~j v (l d).
gives me this output:
T. Saile, Slawen in Niedersachsen. Göttinger Schr. Vor- u. Frühgesch 30 (Neumünster 2007).
The period at the end of the serial title has vanished. Is there an easy explanation or solution for this behaviour?
Every help is appreciated,
Nils
