I just imported several citations into Bookends from EndNote. I have output style set to Journal of the American Chemical Society. The preferences option to use abbreviations instead of full names is checked. When I 'Copy citation' and paste into Mellel, the whole journal name comes over instead of the abbreviated one. A few references come over properly, most not.
Is there something I'm missing?
Also, is there an equivalent to Cite While You Write this this Bookends/Mellel combo?
New to Bookends. Journal names not abbreviated.
Re: New to Bookends. Journal names not abbreviated.
I apologize, but I seem to have found the error. The problem only seems to occur for Angewandte Chemie International Edition. In the Journal Glossary, the full journal name is listed with a comma. In many citations I've downloaded (either from SciFinder or RCS) there is no comma in the full name, so there Bookends isn't recognizing the journal name. I added a version without the comma.
FWIW, the ACS Style Guide still has a comma in the full journal name and its abbreviation, but it is quite common these days to see the reference without the comma.

I'm glad you solved the problem. The CWYW equivalent for Bookends/Mellel is called Live Bibliography.
