New 10.7 requirement for Bookends 12.1

Previously, Bookends 12.0 worked fine with OS 10.6.8 because it is the last version that still runs some old PowerPC programs. However, the newest version of Bookends requires 10.7. I like the fact that Bookends is continually updated. However, if I stay with 10.6.8, I will no longer be able to continue using the updated versions and will have to stick with Bookends 12.07. Is there any way that Bookends 12.1 and future versions will continue to be compatible with OS 10.6.8?

As mentioned in the release notes (quoted below), our development tools are moving on and require Lion. That's the reason for this change, and it's really out of our hands.
• Bookends 12.1 requires OS X 10.7 (Lion) or later
This is necessary because OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) is no longer supported by our development tools. Databases created with Bookends 12.1 and later (until the database schema changes at some time in the future version), however, are still compatible with Bookends versions 12.0 through 12.0.7.
