Bookends/Mellel putting reference into the wrong document

I've got an interesting problem that I need some help on. I use Bookends with Mellel. I have two Mellel documents open: one for my writing with references, the other a note file. When I tell Bookends to insert a citation into my writing document, it instead puts it into the note document. I make sure that the writing document has focus, then I switch to Bookends to insert the citation, but inevitably the note document gets the citation. The only way to make sure the writing document gets the citation is to close the note document. Any suggestions on what to do?

Where the information Bookends sends Mellel goes is entirely up to Mellel. You should contact RedleX tech support and see what they say.
