Could it be possible that you have changed a font (for example to Helvetica, which does not include an italic face)?

Also check Bilbio -> Bibliography or Bib & Scan (in preferences). Make sure the output is set to Styled Text.

Hello:
I am having a problem with an italics export to Mellel from bookends. I am attempting to export a journal article citation with SBL formatting. Everything exports as it should in the Bibliography; however, the export to the footnote in Mellel leaves the shortened Journal article title without italics even though it appears correct in the Bookends “Example Citation."
So to clarify: the shortened form of the Journal title does not appear in italics as it is programmed to do when I export it to a Mellel footnote.
I have looked through all of the threads with an italics export problem, and I have yet to find a solution.
Could this be a Mellel setting that is incorrect? It seems all of my character settings are properly entered.
I wondered too if it had something to do with the Journal Glossary since the shortened form (i.e. JBL) is not italicized in the Footnote and the full journal title (Journal of Biblical Literature) is italicized in the Bibliography when I export to Mellel.
The fonts in Bookends are set at Arial, and the export setting of “styled fonts” is selected. My font settings in Mellel are set at Times New Roman.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.
N. French

Mellel has its own settings that can override whatever Bookends sends. You should contact RedleX tech support, and/or post this question on the Mellel forum.
