BE keeps forgetting watch folder location

Post by mwarner »

I'm running version 12.2.1 in Mac OS 10.9.4 and have a recurring problem where BookEnds, no longer has a watch folder assigned and I have to reconfigure this. It does not seem to be after every quit of the application, but has happened to me about three times over the past week or so. Any one else seeing this behavior?

It could be a problem with the database (where that info is stored). Try doing a Repair (not a Rebuid) on the database.

Repair run as suggested, but the problem still persists. As a bit of other info, my BE database and attachment folder live on DropBox.

Where is your watch folder? Note that in the current version of Bookends, if there is an error with the watch folder Bookends will remove it from the Configure menu. I believe in the next update it will just turn off watching (so you don't keep getting the same error over and over), but leave the setting intact.

Watch folder is on my desktop. For people like me that want to use BE across multiple computers at different times and keep it all synced to DropBox, will the watch folder system ever really work if we attempt to have a watch folder on each desktop?

Although I haven't tried that setup, I would think it would work. Wait for the next update, and try to see if you can find a pattern that results in Bookends removing the watch folder from the configure sheet (or stopping watching in the next update). Maybe you can determine exactly what is resulting in it being turned off.
