Is there a way to batch remove pdf attachment links in BE?

You can use the attachment inspector to remove multiple attachments from a single reference at once. But I can't think of any way to do this for multiple references at once.

I selected all reference attachments in one folder. So now I am wondering how would I build a script to remove the links.

You can't -- Bookends doesn't let you manipulate internal data via an AppleScript. They are only for fetching information from Bookends.
BTW, if these are orphaned attachments (they can't find the file), you can remove those in batch (use Global Change). And of course you can *force* them to be orphaned if you move the default attachment folder to some other location where Bookends won't find it.

Thanks for the tips, but none of them worked well for me. Is there a way to remove the confirmation pop up in the inspector? Also for all attachments BE is saying it can read them, and so there is another pop up window. It would be much faster if I could get rid of these two steps. I still have 389 to go.

I don't think you can get rid of the confirmation dialog. But why not take my advice and make then ALL orphans? You can also do that by putting the db on another Mac (where these attachments don't exist). And then remove orphans.
