Show with Chapters

I am having a few problems with Show with Chapters. I use User4 field for the book title because I need the Volume field for volumes.
1. After using Show With Chapters, the title is output in the Volume field, a problem since it conflicts with the book volume. How can I set BE to replicate book title to User4?
2. After using Replicate as Book Chapter later on Show With Chapters will not display linked chapters.
3. After setting Live search to User4, title words don't fetch their correspoinding entries/references.
It would be nice if upon using Replicate as Book Chapter there would be an automatic link in the Inspector. I was wondering if there is a provision for this that I am not aware of.

Most of these issues are not for the forum, they are things you think aren't working as they should. That's tech support, and should be sent there (
support@sonnysoftware.com). I'll answer them here, but except for feature requests the rest should be dealt with there.
I'd use the Volume field for what it is intended for. There is a field for number of volumes in Additional Fields.
You can't change the location of where Bookends replicates a book title. That's hard wired (see above).
Replicate as book chapter does automatically set a link between the references. If you don't see it, set the parent in the inspector again.
I don't understand your last point. If you set the search to User4 then of course you won't find words in the title. Set the live search back to all fields (or title) if you want to search the title field.

The question has been resolved through tech support email. But there's a principle that applies to all users in the forum, and I will summarize it here. For Show With Chapters to work properly the Vol field should be handled differently in each of two reference types.
1. For Journals, Vol will contain volume number of periodical.
2. For Chapters within a book Vol will hold the Book title. This means that volume number of the book will have to be placed in a user-defined field. I am using U4.

Should I expect book and its chapters to automatically have a link between them in the inspector? Mine does not. When I click "Show with chapters" the book reference lists its chapters. But if I select a chapter reference, there is no way of knowing the parent. For now I am enabling a links column so I will know the relation between works. The question is how to enable automatic links once the title name is the same for both refs.

If you "Replicate as Book Chapter" Bookends will set the link for you. If you just make a new entry yourself Bookends doesn't know the relationship, you have to set that yourself.

Ok thanks. It is often the case that I record a chapter reference at one time, and only later come to find the source. In this case it would be very useful if BE could spot the relation and ascribe a link. This would not be hard to do: only two fields would have to match for the link to be deployed. Please consider this as a feature request.
