Import error

Hi,
sorry I forgot this additional question.

I exported a bibliography of about 1000 items from Endnote 7.0 and tried to import it into Bookends 8.1 and got this error message:
Error: XMP parser error 14: reference to invalid character number.
Is there any easy way to figure out which part of the xml file is causing the problem? As an immediate check that the entire xml file wasn't corrupt I deleted about the first half of the file (leaving the very first fields there of course) and was able to successfully import the second half of the file, so I know there is something funny in the first half, but that is still 500 or so entries to work through one way or another.

Cheers,
Mark.

Hi markau,

Presumably in the first 50, if you don't have a serial number. Try exporting just 10 at a time from EndNote and see if you can isolate the offending reference. I may contain a control character (perhaps invisible) in a field, for example, which I think the XML parser doesn't like.
