Dear all,

I have a small issue with recurrent citations. Bookends is configured to cite recurrent references with "ebenda". That works, when the same reference is cited in a row. However, sometimes I make footnotes referencing simply to another chapter, which Bookends can not know. The result is the following:

Vgl. Schierenbeck / Wöhle (2013)
Vgl. Chapter 2
Vgl. ebenda <- which should be Schierenbeck / Wöhle (2013)

That is completely right from Bookends perspective because it can not know that I have inserted a reference to somewhere else. Correct would be:

Vgl. Schierenbeck / Wöhle (2013)
Vgl. Chapter 2
Vgl. Schierenbeck / Wöhle (2013)

because there is a chapter between both Schierenbeck / Wöhle (2013) citation. How can I create citations to other chapters in Bookends that will not occur in the bibliography? Or any kind of workaround?

You can simply type in the citation manually so that Bookends doesn't know about it. Alternatively, you could use the $ metacharacter to exclude the citation from the bibliography:

{$temp cite}

Thanks for your quick reply Jon! Regarding: {$temp cite}. Does that mean to create the citation within Bookends with e .g. "Capter 2", drag&drop it from Bookends to Word and append the $ in Bookends format?

You can simply do a Copy Citation in Bookends and manually type in the $ in Word. Or you can use Edit -> Copy Citation with Modifiers and choose to let Bookends add the $ for you (from the list of options in the pop-up menu).

Got it Jon, but I have to create the citation to chapter 2 firstly in Bookends, right?
