A new feature that hopefully will appear in the next update is the ability to import selected references (with PDFs) from Sente to Bookends. If any current or former Sente users would like to try this out, please contact me (support@sonysoftware.com) and I'll send a link to this build. It is safe to use -- it will not touch the Sente library or it's attachments, it only imports data and copies (not moves) attachments from Sente to Bookends.

Testers wanted for "Import From Sente"
Re: Testers wanted for "Import From Sente"
I'd be happy to try, Jon. I have a large Sente library and am trying Bookends at the moment.
Also, this may not be the right post to ask, but is there currently a way to bring the Sente "citation id" into Bookends and then use that in Bookends Scan process? I've looked in the forums and documentation but cannot find an answer. I'm sure it must be a common issue, though.
Thanks,
Peter

Re: Testers wanted for "Import From Sente"
I'll be releasing 12.5.9 with this feature today, so you can try it in the real thing.
I haven't had a request before for the citation id. What is it exactly? I see a UUID in the Sente XML, something like this: EAA6906F-9347-4D2F-B8A4-3534FAE81B2E. Is that what you're after? And if so, where would you put it in Bookends (i.e. the Notes field)?

Re: Testers wanted for "Import From Sente"
Thanks for the response, Jon.
The citation id is the way that the scan process identifies the reference. It is in the format "Peirce 2001" for example. I think it is the equivalent of your ID#.

Re: Testers wanted for "Import From Sente"
I don't believe that's hardcoded in the Sente database, though (it's not in Bookends). Take a look at an Sente XML export in a text editor for a single reference and see for yourself. BTW, Bookends would find that citation if you scanned a paper with it (it would be ambiguous, though, if you had two papers from Pierce in 2001).

Re: Testers wanted for "Import From Sente"
Ah, I see it is there as the "citation identifier". There's not need to import these into Bookends because they are just taken from the reference metadata. As I said in the last post, Bookends will already match these references when scanning because Bookends looks for the words in the metadata. If you're scanning a document with citations made by Sente and are getting ambiguous citations, do a Bookends Proofreading Scan. That will replace the ambiguous citations with unambiguous ones.
