Hello,
I'm a Sente user, and I want to migrate to Bookends.
It's easy to import Sente library in Bookends with PDF, BUT I don't know how batch the export of text highlighting in PDF (I have many PDF!).
If I can do that, I migrate to bookends ! How import text highlighting in PDF, from Sente to Bookends ?
Any help (tips, scripts?)
Thanks.

Unfortunately, Sente uses a proprietary mechanism to save PDF markup (i.e. it's not stored in the PDF, but in the Sente database). This information is not included in the Sente XML so Bookends can't reconstruct it. Sente has the ability to save the markup information in the PDF so that any other PDFKit-savvy application can show them (e.g. Bookends, Preview, Adobe Reader, etc.). To do this, click on the word PDF above your PDF and choose Export With Sente Annotations. I don't know if this can be done in batch (i.e. many at once). Sente tech support may be able to help here.

P.S. To be clear, any notes you made in the PDF will be imported into Bookends as notecards. What I'm discussing above, and what Sente is not exporting, is the visual feedback (e.g. text highlighting).

NO, this can NOT be done in batch. The export is one by one, and I have too many PDf to do that.
And SENTE TECH SUPPORT is CLOSED (forum is unavailable, with this message : "This site is closed", since many weeks...) !!!
I tried to automate the export with "automator" (on mac), but it's not a good solution). No other idea ?
Thanks

Their forum is closed, but I believe you can still send Sente tech support emails. The product is still for sale, so I imagine they're supporting it. I took a quick look with Script Editor and can't find an AppleEvent that can be used with Sente to export PDFs with annotations. Maybe someone else can provide advice?
You may have to bite the bullet and manually export the ones most important to you (or as you need them) from Sente with annotations. Not just for use with Bookends, but for use with any PDF reading app.
