No italics in quoted text

Post by slacker »

ola Jon,

Longtime user. Searched the forums here, but this problem persists in 12.7.2.

I am unable to format quoted text in italics or bold. Underline works (in fact, underline persists even after removing it; it comes back and I have to restart the software to remove it). So, for CMS 16 formatting of a Conference Paper:

a. d. “t.” $Paper presented at $f, $at $l, p–`.` ~doi:~u17.

I get:

Gates, Carrie, Sriram Subramanian and Carl Gutwin. 2006. “DJ’s Perspectives on Interaction and Awareness in Nightclubs.” Paper presented at Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Sixth Conference on Designing Interactive Systems (DIS’06), at University Park, Pennsylvania, 70–79. doi:10.1145/1142405.1142418.

Quoted text isn't formatted in italics as it should be. Now I know what you're going to say. First check default font in Prefs (it's Times New Roman; I've also tried Georgia, Arial, Garamond, etc). Second check fonts in the reference field (ditto). Of course here the reference field isn't the problem—it works fine. Here the problem is the quoted text field in the Formats Manager.

So, still no dice. Why isn't the Formats Manager recognising italicized or bold fonts? Why does it recognise underline, but then get hung up on it, requiring a software reboot to remove underline formatting? Am I missing something?

Muchos gracias.

I'm afraid I'm in Europe at the moment and can't say. Please try the generic solutions of making sure you're using the latest version of Bookends and Rebuilding your library. If that doesn't help let me know and I'll take a look when I return (probably Thursday).
