I have been trying to put together some of my dissertation in Scrivener and then move it to Mellel. I just finished a bunch and wanted to see what I had, so I copied it into Mellel via cut and paste. It recognized the footnotes just fine but does not see my temporary citations. They are untouched from their original entry and are in the {} formate with the identifying number. Yet refreshing and scanning all turn up nothing. Is there a procedural trick I am missing here to get Mellel to see the temporary citations?

You're missing the Mellel option to "convert text to citations" (or words to that effect).
