abbreviated publisher

What is the best way to have an abbreviated form for the publisher in the citation (i.e., footnote), but full name of publisher in the bibliography?
Does Bookends have a list for publisher abbreviations as there is for journal abbreviations?

There is no publisher glossary. I suggest that you devote a user field to the abbreviated publisher name (e.g. user1). Then in the citation format you use

and in the bibliography format you use

u
