Format to import from DevonThink

Post by jmm »

I seem to have been using the same format for renaming Bookends attached files and for importing Bookends references into DevonThink. I cannot work how this happened out, and a clarification will help for it not to happen again.

In order to solve the situation, I have deleted the said format in Bookends, and have recreated my custom format for renaming files in Bookends, which is working correctly. But how can I recreate the default format for importing into DevonThink?

You mean exporting to DT? You initiate the import (export from Bookends) in DT and Bookends and DT take care of the rest. You don't need to create a format for export.

I mean importing Bookends references in Devonthink. The format of the content of the rtf file created inside Devonthink used to be different. Now I only get inside that file "author - date - title" -this is my custom format for renaming Bookends references attached files. Before this problem, I used to get the abstract and other info from Bookends' references in the body of the Devonthink file.

I think there was a specific format for Devonthink automatically created in Bookends, and that it had to be selected in Bookends > Biblio > Bibliography. If this is right, how could I restore such specific format?

Bookends exports to DT as RIS, how DT displays the data is up to it. I believe that DT also lets you get the data using a Bookends format, but that will be up to DT (there never was a specific format created for DT). I'm on vacation at the moment and can't investigate this right now, but in any case the solution will be had from DT tech support. The import from Bookends is controlled by DT, Bookends just responds to requests. So please write to them, they are very prompt and helpful.
