New hierarchical metatags

Bookends 12.7.9 introduces hierarchical tag cloud metatags (formally called virtual tags). Metatags, which you create in preferences (Tags tab) let you enter multiple tags under one heading. For example, you can list "apple", "orange", and "pear" under the metatag "Fruit". In the tag cloud, clicking on the metatag Fruit… (the ellipsis defines this as a metatag) will find all reference containing one or more of the three items in the metatag. Moreover, you can place "Fruit" under another metatag, say "Food". Clicking on Food… will find all references containing these items and whatever else is contained in the Food metatag, such as vegetables.
Unlike the old virtual tags, metatags can be used in conjunction with the Keyword field, making this an active rather than passive method of organizing your searches.
I urge anyone who uses Bookends databases as repositories of information to read the User Guide (Help menu) section on metatags to see exactly how this new feature can help you.
