Best solution for exporting to Paperpile?

Post by kga1978 »

Hi,

I'm trying to sync up my BE and Paperpile library nicely so I can write papers in Google Docs. I'd like to export my entire Bookends library and have each reference WITH its pdf attached in Paperpile. Is there a way to achieve that? In the Paperpile documentation they talk about doing a RIS export from Endnote and then import into Paperpile, but I can't find a similar procedure in Bookends.

Thanks

First,
Go to the Biblio menu in BE--> Format manager--> check RIS.

You can also modify it anyway you like.

Then, when you export, File-->Export References (Hits)--> Bibliography Format...-->RIS

PAPERPIle also accepts Bibtex format. You can use that format too. But, I am not sure how PaperPile associates the attachments.

Take a look at this page, there may be something useful there.

Thanks Jon. I think I found the culprit - the current format of RIS in BE doesn't output the attachment information, BUT that can be added in automatically. I did that and now I *think* things are working as expected - if not, then it's on the Paperpile side. Here's what my modified RIS format ended up looking like:

Code: Select all

`TY - JOUR`
$AU - $a
$T1 - $t
$KW - $k
$PY - $d
$JA - $j
$SP - $p-
$VL - $v
$IS - $i
$SN - $u6
$AB - $b
$N1 - $n
$UR - $z
$L1 - $m
`ER - `¬

Yes, that's the solution I would use, too.
