In most chemistry journals is usual to include several citations in a single references, lettering each citation:
As an example:
7. (a) Watanabe, Y.; Tsuji, Y.; Ohsugi, Y. Tetrahedron Lett. 1981, 22, 2667;
(b) Arcelli, A.; Khai, B.-T.; Porzi, G. J. Organomet. Chem. 1982, 235, 93; (c) Murahashi, S.-I.; Kondo, K.; Hakata, T. Tetrahedron Lett. 1982, 23, 229; (d) Watanabe, Y.; Tsuji, Y.; Ige, H.; Ohsugi, Y.; Ohta, T. J. Org. Chem. 1984, 49, 3359; (e) Marsella, J. A. J. Org. Chem. 1987, 52, 467; (f) Jenner, G. J. Mol. Catal. 1989, 55, 241; (g) Bitsi, G.; Schleiffer, E.; Antoni, F.; Jenner, G. J. Organomet. Chem. 1989, 373, 343; (h) Ganguly, S.; Roundhill, D. M. Polyhedron 1990, 9, 2517; (i) Watanabe, Y.; Morisaki, Y.; Kondo, T.; Mitsudo, T. J. Org. Chem. 1996, 61, 4214; (j) Abbenhuis, R. A. T. M.; Boersma, J.; van Koten, G. J. Org. Chem. 1998, 63, 4282; (k) Naota, T.; Takaya, H.; Murahashi, S.-I. Chem. Rev. 1998, 98, 2599; (l) Del Zotto, A.; Baratta, W.; Sandri, M.; Verardo, G.; Rigo, P. Eur. J. Inorg. Chem. 2004, 524.
I am wondering how could I get that...
Thanks for your help.
Format for several citations in a reference
Re: Format for several citations in a reference
In the format check "Group references always cited together". You won't get letters, but you will get all the references under the same number.

Re: Format for several citations in a reference
Thanks Jon,
I was aware of it but I was looking for the letters... At the moment I have put a placeholder in "Separate in bibliography with" and then ,at the final stage of the manuscript, I change it for the letters. The main problem is to check the right reference in the text when you want cite specifically 17c, 17c-f or whatever... I must reread carefully the manuscript before finishing. I try to avoid that format and make separate citations but sometimes the editors are quite persistent...
Thanks again

Re: Format for several citations in a reference
If you have one group citing 17c alone and another citing 17c-f, Bookends should put them under different numbers in the bibliography:
1. c
2. d-f
and in the text after the scan you'd get (1, 2).
At least that's how I remember it works (I haven't revisited this in years)
