Wrong page # showing up on notecards

This has probably been addressed before but my search for relevant threads turned up nothing helpful. When I choose the "make a bookends notecard with page #" option, I only get the number of the page in the pdf, i.e. 1, 2, 3. But if it's a journal article numbered pp312-344 (and I've included that info in the reference), how do I get those page numbers to show up on the notecards?

You have to enter them yourself. Bookends queries the PDF for the page number and uses what it gets back. The publisher didn't insert the actual page number in the PDF metadata, just the relative page number.

Thanks. I"m assuming you mean I have to replace the relative page # on each notecard with the actual one. It would be great if in future versions Bookend could figure out from the page # info entered on the reference page to start with, say, page 331 rather than 1. This is one thing Sente does pretty well, at least the desktop version.

But I don't know that the PDF starts on p. 331 (or whatever) for some PDFs, the publisher didn't insert that metadata. Please send me a PDF for which Sente figures out the starting page and Bookends doesn't. I'll see if there is something I've missed.

It turns out that Sente was relying on the user-entered data in the Pages field to calculate the PDF page number in notecards. That's something we can add in a future Bookends update.
