I'm new to Bookends, after having been a loooong-time Sente user. I've searched the forum and the manuals but can't find an answer to this question. When importing references plus attachments into Bookends from Sente (using the AppleEvents method), I've noticed that highlights of text I've made on pdfs in Sente do not transfer with the attachment imported in Bookends. I'm guessing that this may be due to the method Sente uses to highlight the text. But, I'm wondering (hoping) that I've missed a setting somewhere that will allow the highlights to be transferred along with the pdf attachment. I'd hate to have to re-do them all by hand for over 3000 references/attachments.

BTW - thanks for a great program and for the wonderful support provided in this forum.

Sente has the option to Export a PDF "with Sente annotations". The proprietary annotations are converted to PDFKit, which Bookends can read.

Unfortunately, this is not accessible via AppleScript, so Bookends can't do it for you. And I don't see a way in Sente to do it in batch (maybe someone else knows how).

That means you'll have to do this one-by-one in Sente, and attach each to Bookends. Obviously this is unrealistic for 3000 PDFs. But if you have a handful that are particularly valuable it might be an option.

Thanks so much for the fast response. And you're right, the best way is to select the critical papers for import following exporting with annotation in Sente.
