No reader in autocomplete

I am trying to add some pdf documents, and the Autocomplete function has no image of the paper. I get a messages that says "Adobe PDFviewer cannot find a compatible Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader to view this PDF. Please select one." I do not use Adobe any more, and don't even have it installed. Skim has been my default reader for some time, and I am experimenting with PDF Expert, but I cannot invoke either one of them when this message appears. Any thoughts would be welcome.

You're using an Adobe product and don't know it (they are very sneaky). Please see this FAQ
