Export to Endnote 9

I can't export Bookends records in XML to Endnote 9; Endnote won't recognise the records. It works fine for Endnote 7.
Has anyone else tried this?

EN 8/9 can't read EN 7 XML (which is what Bookends exports). We'll probably add EN 8/9 XML export in a future update.
You can export as EndNote Refer, though, which all versions of EN import.

Unfortunately that didn't work for me.
Export to Endnote 7, then import records into Endnote 9 works okay.
It's only important because in large research projects Mac users need to share reference sets with Windows users who are stuck with Endnote, so we'd be very grateful if Bookends would continue support for import/export Endnote.
For the record, Endnote 9 seems to have ironed out the problems that made Endnote7 and 8 almost unusable for Macs. However it hardly constitutes an upgrade, merely a fix for compatibility issues.

What didn't work, Refer export? It does work. If you are having problems, please contact me directly and we'll straighten it out.

Dear Jon
I am stuck with the need to export my database to endnote 6 (os X).
I can't do it... how can I then export as Refer?
Thanks

Use Biblio -> Bibliography Formatter and export the references you want to disk as plain text.
Use the EndNote Export (Refer) format that we provide.
