Citing books in MLA 8 style, I have citations set up to show author followed by short title in italics. For subsequent citations, I’d like to just show author, but when I change the entry in the "Subsequent (Optional)" field to reflect author only in the Format Manager, the instruction doesn't seem to register with Mellel (subsequent citations are formatted the same way as the first one). Is there something more to this that I have missed? Thanks.

If the subsequent citation is immediately after the first one then the setting for Ibid takes precedence. If the two citations are separated by other citations then you should see the subsequent field being used. If this is not the case contact tech support directly.
