After a couple years of use, time to consider a new reference manager

Hi,
I like Bookends. I can deal with its idiosyncrasies--for me--thanks to the forums and help team. What's kind of getting to me is the interface. I'd like to get a list of keyboard shortcuts, but I cannot find it in the user guide. I'd like to jump to the search field window, I'd like to scroll back through past searches, I'd like to be able select a type of search without having to precisely nail the type selection button. That's just right now. There's other things. For example, I can't figure how to search the last month's worth of message on the forum. I can't figure out to search for people who discuss usages of Bookends with Apple's pages.
Sorry, I am not into ranting, but this is good software and I hope some of these things I've discussed are open for discussion, or at least a note to me telling me where to go to get answers to my questions.
Best,
Francis
