How to paste formatted text into Formats Manager?

I've created a formatted text string to define field order using Formats Manager.

Example:
a. ā€œt.ā€ f v (d): p–, $Accessed $u3, u4.{ $doi: $u17^ z}`.`
where the f is italicized.

The problem is, pasting this text string into Formats Manager loses the formatting (i.e., the italics). I don't want to re-create the formatting inside Formats Manager.

Is there a workaround to paste formatted text into Formats Manager?

Edit -> Paste

You probably assigned Paste and Match Style to Command-V

Jon, that was exactly it. To fix, I went to System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > App Shortcuts to redefine Command-V as "Paste". Also redefined Shift-Option-Command-V as "Paste and Match Style".

Command-V now works as expected. Thank you!

Do not do this in System Preferences. Bad idea. Do it in Bookends Preferences (Refs tab) so it only applies to Bookends. You don't want this behavior in, say, your word processor.
