Question re complete journals (vs journal articles)

Dear all,

Am relatively new to Bookends and have searched in the usual locations (tutorial, FAQs, this forum), but have yet to find some information on the following:

Now that I have accumulated a couple of journal issues in e-format, I am looking for a way to reasonably attribute them. Is anyone tracking complete journal volumes in Bookends? Have you defined your own Reference Type for this matter? Any thoughts on why it may be a bad idea entering a journal instead of all its individual articles? (Journal vs Journal Article similar to Book vs Book Chapter)

Some background: I use Bookends mostly for

- keeping a repository on all reading stuff I have (books, PDFs, journals)
- being able to retrieve individual PDFs by attributes
- keeping track of what I have read and what to do with it (archive, read again, do some more research etc.)

I do not use Bookends (yet) for referencing purposes.

Thank you.

You can create a Journal Type and store the journal metadata there (including the list of article titles in, say Notes). I'm not sure what use it will be, but if you find it helpful it's easy enough to do.
