I am looking to add some additional types to Chicago 17th A. fmt such as Letter, Interview, Photo.
Rather than modifying one of the existing types is there

• another format which is similar that I could use as a model or
  another previous version of Chicago A that already has them

and is available for download.

You have all the formats we distribute already, including all versions of Chicago. Look in the Formats Manager. But none of the older versions of Chicago have these.
