Occasionally, when importing from the watch folder, the PDF is attached to a wrong reference.
What is the best strategy for correcting these errors?
Right now, I locate the PDF in the finder, then detach in BE and drop it from the finder to the new reference in BE.
Or is there a better way to do that?

That's what I would do. You can quickly locate the PDF with Show In Finder or right-clicking on the PDF proxy icon. Or you could move it to the Desktop by dragging the PDF proxy icon, then selecting the reight reference and dropping it on the window.

If the wrong reference is being attached to, try Rebuilding your library.

I have noticed that I have quite a few that have attached to the wrong reference too. I am opening the pdf, and saving it to my bookends watch folder as a new name and deleting the wrong attachment.

I wonder whether it would be possible to add a dropdown on pdf's that would give the option to add to a new reference and split that file from the original reference.

It's unlikely, but I'll record the request.
