Does anyone have a working strategy for importing into bookends from Readcube papers, - references and pdfs. I suspect it is not very easy if at all possible.
I have 2800 references and can select them all and can try and export as BibTex. Its currently thinking about that. If it succeeds I need a way of adding the pdfs.

Can you export as RIS? If so, you can modify the output to include the names of attachments (but it must just be the name, not the pathname). Bookends can now import such names to the attachments field. It is probably possible to do this with BibTeX, too, but you have to be able to modify the output (from ReadCube). Finally, is there an EndNote XML option?

P.S. This web site says you can export as RIS (RefMan):
https://support.papersapp.com/support/s ... be-papers-
And the file path will be exported with the L1 tag
L1 - file://localhost/Users/username/Documents/Papers%20Library/Almeida-2012-Journal%20of%20Biogeography.pdf
You can configure the RIS import filter to import L1 to Attachments. And then do a post-import cleanup with Global Change -> Find & Replace on the Attachment field.

Unortunately Papers – the read cube online version, does not support local archiving of PDFs. This is a good reason to leave as migration is seemingly not possible.
Neither is it very good at exporting all my papers as .ris archive, - I have spent a while waiting for it to do so. It may be OK for a small number of papers but not 2800.
Seems like the only way is to start again.

Note that Bookends only needs the PDF name, not its path. I assume you can download the PDFs to the HD...if so, just move them to the Bookends default attachment folder and, if Bookends has imported the names, Bookends will find them.
As for exporting 3K references as RIS, I'm sure it can do that. Please contact their tech support for help.

I was a bit harsh about Readcube papers. There is a downloadable desktop app that can be used offline (ie all pdfs are downloaded) - I will do it that way.
