Database engine error

Hi,
while working with two very small Bookends files I got a database error.
Then I rebuilt one database and it worked very well: I have a new LesenPhi rebuilt database (the old db is still there).
Then I rebuilt the second database "Buch" (only 56 entries) and I got the rainbow-colored circle and I waited and waited ... Then I ended Bookends immediately. Now "Buch rebuilt" is empty and selecting the old database "Buch" results in: Database Engine Error File "0x100030000" does not exist".
I'm happy I have saved all Bookends databases just yesterday.
1) is to rebuild the database the right reaction to database error?
2) and how long shall I wait for rebuilding 56 entries?
3) or what else can I do better in the future?

Hi,
I just have copied the saved database (which I am missing on my primary disk) from my external disk.
Then I wanted to delete 1 entry.
I got: "Database Engine Error: Internal error".
Now, the rainbow-circle rotates all the time. I have no access to the Bookends application (which is still "working").
What shall I do?

Try a repair instead of rebuild -- it should take something like 30-60 seconds for a small database like yours.

You should contact tech support directly, not the forum, for issues like this.
