Notestream / notes from highlights doesn't work

Dear Bookends TEam,
I recently was wanting to start using the notestream feature of bookends to give my workflow a boost. However, neither highlights made within bookends nor outwith (but appearing in the bookends reader nonetheless) are transferred to the notestream field. Even if I add an note to a highlighted section nothing happens. This is treu for all pdf's in my library.
any suggestions?
