Possible reasons inspector won't delink sources

Hello there,
I'm currently having an issue where I don't seem to be able to unlink sources from each other in the inspector window. I read in the user guide that we should be able to delink them by selecting and pressing the delete key but when I do so I get the "can't complete" tone from my mac, which makes me think that there is some sort of setting I am unaware of.

Can anyone think of why it might not be letting me delete the link?
