I apologise in advance - this is probably my ignorance

OSX 13.5.1
Bookends: 13.5.2
Word: 16.47

New word doc, select Word as the word processor in Bookend preferences
In Preferences->Scan and Bib: choose Vancouver for copy citation

select a reference, CMD-Y
the reference is inserted, not the citation
scanning fails - it can't find the reference for the citation

What exactly do the pasted contents look like in Word?

P.S. In preferences, did you mistakenly set Bookends to use a format to create the temporary citation?

I had indeed selected a format for the citation. Once I reverted to "Content", all is well.
