Hello. I just searched for this in the User Guide but came up with nothing.

Can someone please tell me what this checkbox is for?

It's not necessarily the Authors column, it's the first column. It indicates whether the references is a "hit" (in the hits list). You can toggle it, too, by clicking the checkbox.

Please see the user guide (Help menu) for a full explanation of what hits are.
