I have noticed that through Google Books search sometimes the book description is not retrieved, but it exists by searching manually.

How come?

Bookends doesn't scrape the web page, it uses the Google Books search API. For many books that returns a description, which Bookends captures. For this book it doesn't, regardless of what the web server outputs.
