I think I'd call this a bug... Open a database in list view, with the "View formatted" field visible. Open a reference, and change some item in one of the fields that was previously included in the "View formatted" field. Close the reference window.

The "View formatted" field doesn't update to reflect the changes until you select another record in the List View, and then reselect the changed record. It would be nice to force an update of the "View formatted" field when the reference window is closed, so that the user can quickly verify that any changes have "taken".

It's not a bug. It's just not a feature.

You don't have to select another references from the list -- just click on the same one and it will update.

I'll try to get around to dealing with this when I have a bit of time.
