Bookends for iOS/iPadOS won’t allow me to download PDFs from sciencedirect using the Download button on Sciencedirect, giving the error ‘file format not supported’. The link opens just fine in any browser.

Right now, the workaround is to open the file in Safari and then - via the share sheet - open the PDF in Bookends. Is this a common problem and - if so - is a solution expected so that the PDF opens and can be saved directly in Bookends?

Please try Settings -> Internal Web Browser -> Use Safari View Controller. It will work like in Safari but you also need to Share the downloaded PDF to Bookends app, the same as in Safari, but without switching between apps.
