sorting bibliography

is there a way to sort the bibliography by user1 instead of author/date when using journal article choice and API 7th Edition.

I'd like to modify the format to have

[user1] reference
[user1] reference 2 etc.

sorted by the user 1 values. I can edit the field to have [u1] at the beginning so that works.

Not sure how to get it to sort, since alphabetize references only gives limited options.

is there a way to do this?

thanks, Frederick

Not in Bookends. But once it's in Word you should be able to select the bibliography and apply a sort there.

If it won't sort lines that contain hidden fields, you can remove the fields (with a right click IIRC) and you'll have normal text. Note that if you rescan or unscan the bib won't be replaced, but it would be easy enough to delete it yourself.

This is another solution.

1. Scan the document, do NOT have Bookends create the bibliography.

2. The references in the paper are now Hits.

3. Hits -> Sort Hits List -> User1

4. In your format, UNCHECK alphabetize.

5. Biblio -> Bibliography -> Make Bib

It should be sorted by User1. Copy/Paste into Word.

Again, it's just text now, so you'll have to remove it yourself if you rescan or unscan.

much thanks. I'll explore these options!

I very much like the power of bookends, it is extremely helpful.
